Hej!

det bästa snorklingsområdet låg just utanför Unawatuna, men bra..sådär.

I would recommend Hikkaduwa for snorkelling. I have done many times in Hikkaduwa, and I must say the marine life and corals surpass lots of other places I have dived in Southern cost. There is however a currant which you have to be aware of. If you start your snorkelling just in front of the Coral Sands Beach Hotel, then you are in safe waters. If you start your dive south of that Hotel, ( Close to Mama's Restaurant), then there is a current, which will drift you away into the waters where there is nothing to see but the sand.
There is also a fantastic place to snorkel in Galle called Bonavista coral reef. Its said to be the most bio diversified reef in the island. However, I am not sure whether you're allowed to dive on that site anymore since its been a protected site. But worth looking into when you are in the area.
Pardon me for answering in English, as my Swedish is not the best despite of living in Sweden for many years. :-( Hope you will have a good time in Sri Lanka.
