"The Maldives needs to urgently seek to revive the confidence of major tour operators to the country by building more tourist capacity to cater to the charter market, the tourism industry organization MATI said in a letter to the government.
Under the present programme of expansion of tourism, the priority should be on developing budget – bed resorts, to reach an additional bed capacity of 3 to 4 thousand beds in this segment over the next 2 years, MATI said.
The organization also called for a study into why some major tour operators were downsizing their operation to the Maldives, local press reports said."

Då kanske Fritidsresor (TUI), Ving, Apollo o andra bolag kan ordna lite fler platser till öarna. Och förhoppnings till
