I know it's maybe a bit to late but still. I can give you information from the first hand since I'm Slovene.
You're right, you have to pay a toll/vägtull when traveling Slovenian roads. We call it "Vinjeta" This is due to the high transit trafic I guess. Gladly there is an option to buy different kinds of "Vinjeta", from one day to one year vaildity.
