The unique profile of Diamond Head (Lē‘ahi) sits prominently near the eastern edge of Waikiki’s coastline. Hawaii’s most recognized landmark is known for its historic hiking trail, stunning coastal views, and military history. Diamond Head State Monument encompasses over 475 acres, including the interior and outer slopes of the crater.

This broad, saucer-shaped crater was formed about 300,000 years ago during a single, explosive eruption that sent ash and fine particles in the air. As these materials settled, they cemented together into a rock called tuff, creating the crater, and which is visible from the trail in the park. Most of the vegetation and birds were introduced in the late 1800s to early 1900s.

Luftfuktighet 100%
Orkanerna Ignacio, Jimena och Kilo som passerade nära Hawaii strax innan resan medförde ovanligt varmt och fuktigt väder till öarna, lokalbefolkningen kallade det El Nino Diablo. Dagtemperaturen låg på 35 och luftfuktigheten var hundraprocentig.

Hawaiian outrigger canoes
The outrigger canoe is a type of canoe featuring one or more lateral support floats known as outriggers, which are fastened to one or both sides of the main hull. The sailing canoes are an important part of the Polynesian heritage and are raced and sailed in Hawaii, Tahiti, Samoa and by the Māori of New Zealand. They are also very popular in Puerto Rico.

The blowhole is a natural occurrence formed by molten lava tubes from volcanic eruptions thousands of years ago. The lava tubes run to the ocean and, when the surf is right, the blowhole shoots water up to 30 feet in the air. The larger the waves, the larger the spray.

Eternity Beach
Halona Beach Cove is a small pocket of sand located on the southeastern shore of Oahu.It was made popular in the movie From here to Eternity, filmed here in 1953, where it was a love scene of a couple (Burt Lancester and Deborah Kerr). Because of the movie, the beach was nicknamed Eternity Beach.

It is located on the right (west) side of the Halona Blowhole overlook.

Koolau Range
Koolau Mountain Range is not a mountain range in the normal sense, because it was formed as a single mountain called Koʻolau Volcano (koʻolau means "windward" in Hawaiian, cognate of the toponym Tokelau). What remains of Koʻolau is the western half of the original volcano that was destroyed in prehistoric times when the entire eastern half—including much of the summit caldera—slid cataclysmically into the Pacific Ocean. Remains of this ancient volcano lie as massive fragments strewn nearly 100 miles (160 km) over the ocean floor to the northeast of Oʻahu.

Mokoliʻi - Chinaman´s Hat
Mokoliʻi translates from Hawaiian as "little lizard." According to Hawaiian mythology, the island is the remains of a giant lizard's or dragon's tail that was chopped off and tossed into the ocean by the goddess Hiʻiaka.The common name of Chinaman's Hat derives from its likeness to the Asian conical hat.
